Mulled Wine Spritzer
Description
The Mulled Wine Spritzer recipe involves warming red wine with water, brown sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves, and quartered orange to extract warm spices and citrus aroma without boiling. After simmering for 10 minutes and straining, the spiced wine mixture cools to room temperature or below.
The cooled mulled wine is then poured over ice and frozen raspberries in a tall glass to provide chilling and fruity contrast. To finish, fizzy lemonade such as Sprite or 7 Up is added on top, introducing sweetness and carbonation that lighten the rich spiced wine base. The frozen raspberries contribute both to flavor and an appealing garnish.
This chilled serving style transforms traditional warm mulled wine into a sparkling spritzer version that can refresh while retaining festive spice complexity. It pairs well with cold weather gatherings where a lighter, sparkling alcoholic drink with rich aromatics is desired.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle red wine
- ⅔ cup water 150 ml
- 4 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cloves
- 1 orange quartered
