Parmesan Rice Recipe
Description
This Parmesan Rice Recipe uses cooked jasmine rice mixed with light butter, lemon juice, salt, and freshly shaved parmesan cheese, which melts smoothly over warm rice to create a rich, creamy texture. The addition of chopped parsley or tarragon injects freshness and subtle herbal notes. The dish combines umami and citrus components, balancing richness with brightness.
Prepared with Success boil-in-bag jasmine rice, the recipe offers convenience without sacrificing flavor. It's a useful way to enhance plain cooked rice and can pair well with a variety of proteins or vegetables. The use of freshly shredded cheese is important to achieve smooth melting and luscious mouthfeel, as pre-shredded cheese may contain anti-caking agents that affect the texture.
The recipe also provides a practical way to use leftover cooked rice and stores well in the fridge for up to five days. Reheating gently with a small ice cube helps maintain moisture to prevent drying out.
Ingredients
- 2 bags jasmine rice ~4 cups cooked rice, Success brand, boil-in-bag
- ¼ cup butter light
- ½ cup parsley or a combination, fresh, or tarragon
- 1¼ cup Parmesan Cheese divided, shaved
- ½ lemon juice
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Start by preparing Success Boil-in-Bag Jasmine Rice according to box instructions.
- Once it’s cooked, add it to a mixing bowl. Add in butter, salt, lemon juice, and ½ cup of shaved parmesan. Stir to melt butter and cheese (the heat from the cooked rice will melt the parmesan quickly).
- Stir in the finely diced parsley and remaining shaved parmesan cheese and a little salt if desired.
- Serve as the base to a Falafel Bowl or enjoy with another protein / vegetable combination.
Notes
- Use freshly shredded parmesan cheese rather than pre-shredded to achieve creamier melting texture.
- This recipe works well to repurpose leftover plain cooked rice by adding flavor and richness.
- Store cooked parmesan rice in the refrigerator for up to five days.
- Reheat rice with an ice cube on top to help retain moisture and prevent drying out.
