Pasta with Peas and Ham

Make my one pot Pasta with Peas and Ham in under a half hour utilizing leftover ham, penne pasta, frozen peas, and heavy cream. This is a family favorite dinner recipe among both kids and adults with easy clean-up!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 cups cooked ham diced
  • 32 oz. low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon Dried onion flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 16 oz. penne pasta
  • 2 cups frozen green peas
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet melt butter on medium-high heat. Add the diced ham, pasta, onion flakes, and Italian seasoning. Then add in the chicken broth. Mix well.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium, place the lid on the pot, and cook for 15 minutes. Mix periodically.
  3. Turn off the burner. Mix in the green peas, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese. Mix well and season with salt (if needed) and pepper. Let sit with lid on for 3-5 minutes. Divide evenly and enjoy!

Notes

  • Yield - This recipe yields enough for 6 large adult portions.
  • Cheese - If you don't have Parmesan cheese, Pecorino Romano cheese works as a substitute and it's often what I use when I make this recipe.
  • Ham - Depending on the flavors of your ham will depend on the flavor it will give off in your pasta. I always use a brown sugar glazed ham for this recipe.
