Peach Iced Tea

Report
Peach Iced Tea is a chilled beverage combining a simmered peach and honey infusion with brewed black tea. The peach mixture is strained to extract sweet, flavored juice, which is then mixed with cooled tea and plenty of ice. The result is a subtly sweetened iced tea with fresh fruity notes and a clean finish, customizable with additional sweeteners, herbs, or spirits.

Description

Peach Iced Tea begins by simmering chopped peaches with cold water and honey until the peach skin softens and releases flavor. Meanwhile, black tea bags steep in boiling water for 10 minutes to produce a strong brewed tea that is cooled afterward. The peach mixture is pressed through a fine sieve, yielding infused peach water while reserving the pulp for other uses, such as smoothies or sauces.

The peach water is combined with the chilled tea in a pitcher and iced generously. The resulting drink balances natural peach sweetness with the robust flavor of black tea without excessive sweetness, though adjustments can be made by adding more honey or switching to other sweeteners like maple syrup. Optional herbs such as thyme or mint can enhance complexity, and a splash of rum can create a spirited version.

This beverage can be made ahead and stored in the fridge, making it a refreshing choice for warm days or casual gatherings. The recipe also highlights flexibility with tea varieties and sweetness levels depending on preference.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 peaches pitted and chopped
  • 500 ml water cold
  • 1000 ml water boiling
  • 3 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tea in bags
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Put 500 ml Cold water, 3 Peaches and 3 tablespoon Honey into a pan and bring to the boil. Simmer for about 15 minutes, until the peach skin starts to come off.
  2. Meanwhile, add 2 Tea bags to the 1000 ml Boiling water and leave to steep for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and allow the tea to cool.
  3. Put a fine sieve over a bowl and pour the peach mixture in. Using a wooden spoon, mash down the peaches into a pulp, so as much juice goes through the sieve into the water in the bowl.
  4. You will be left with delicious peach water. Don’t throw the pulp away, as it can be added to smoothies or our Homemade BBQ Sauce.
  5. Pour the tea in to a jug and put in the fridge to cool.
  6. Top up with the peach water and add lots of Ice cubes.

Notes

  • The iced tea sweetness can be adjusted by using more honey or substituting with maple syrup.
  • Black tea is used here, but flavored or green teas can also be substituted.
  • Add fresh herbs like thyme or mint to complement the peach flavor.
  • For an adult version, a splash of white or spiced dark rum can be added.
  • This tea can be made in advance and stored in the fridge.
