Peanut Butter and Jelly Chicken Wings

Peanut Butter and Jelly Chicken Wings are drumettes marinated overnight in a mixture of cherry jelly, peanut butter, apple cider vinegar, cherry juice, and sriracha. The marinade coats the wings thoroughly, infusing them with a balance of sweet, tangy, and mildly spicy flavors. After marinating, the wings are grilled until the outside is crisp and the meat is cooked through, with chopped peanuts sprinkled on top for added crunch.

Description

This recipe uses a unique marinade combining tart cherry jelly and creamy peanut butter, giving the chicken wings a rich sweetness and subtle nuttiness. The addition of apple cider vinegar and cherry juice adds acidity, while sriracha provides a gentle heat contrast. The wings are placed in a zip-top bag with the marinade, ensuring even coating and allowing flavors to develop overnight in the refrigerator.

Grilling the drumettes over medium heat crisps the skin and caramelizes the marinade on the surface, creating a textured exterior while keeping the interior juicy. A final garnish of chopped peanuts adds crunch and reinforces the peanut element in the dish.

These wings make an interesting appetizer or snack, especially for those looking for a creative take on classic chicken wings. Serve them plain or with additional dipping sauces if desired. The overnight preparation requires planning but yields well-flavored, tender wings.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 13 ounces cherry jelly tart
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter natural creamy
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons cherry juice
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha
  • 12 chicken drumettes
  • peanut chopped

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl whisk together jelly, peanut butter, vinegar, juice, and sriracha.
  2. Pour peanut butter mixture into a 1-gallon zip-top bag and add in chicken wings.
  3. Securely close the bag and using your hands make sure all the chicken is coated. I just move around the chicken until it's fully covered.
  4. Place the bag (zip side up) in a small casserole dish and let the chicken marinate overnight. (I place it in a small casserole dish just in case there is a leak in the bag.)
  5. When you're ready to make your chicken wings preheat your grill to medium heat, add your wings, and cook for about 10 minutes until the outside is crisp and the chicken is fully cooked.
  6. Serve with a sprinkling of peanuts if desired.
