Peanut Butter Balls Recipe

Peanut Butter Balls are no-bake treats made from chunky peanut butter mixed with powdered sugar, Rice Krispies cereal, and butter to form a dough. The dough is shaped into firm balls chilled until set, then coated twice in melted chocolate for a sweet, crunchy shell encasing a rich, nutty center. These confections offer a crunchy texture from the cereal and smooth peanut butter flavor.

Description

To make Peanut Butter Balls, chunky peanut butter is combined in a bowl with powdered sugar, Rice Krispies cereal, and butter, mixing until it reaches a sticky, moldable consistency. If needed, extra peanut butter is added to bind the mixture. The dough is rolled into one-inch balls and chilled on wax paper for firming, typically about two hours.

Once set, each ball is dipped twice in melted chocolate, forming a hard outer coating that contrasts with the chewy interior. After coating, they are refrigerated again to solidify. The combination of peanut butter, cereal crunch, and chocolate coating results in a sweet, textured bite-sized treat.

These peanut butter balls are suitable as party snacks, holiday treats, or homemade candies. They're easy to store in containers or tins and can be frozen for longer preservation. The double chocolate coating provides a smooth finish and helps keep the balls fresh.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 cups peanut butter *chunky
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 4 tablespoon butter *or margarine
  • 2 lbs chocolate *I use Moulding chocolate or almond bark

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients except chocolate in a large bowl. Add in more peanut butter if mixture isn't sticking together.
  2. Place wax paper on a cookie sheet and roll dough into one-inch balls. Place on cookie sheet and place in fridge for about two hours to firm.
  3. Once balls are set, melt a few squares of chocolate in microwave at a time and roll peanut butter ball through chocolate two times.
  4. Set back onto wax paper and refrigerate.
  5. Once chilled, you can store in a tin or container. Can be frozen as well (although mine don't last long enough to make it to the freezer before I eat them)
