Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 lbs. pear peeled, cored and diced, ripe
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring to combine.
  2. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 50 minutes. Stir occasionally to make sure the bottom doesn’t burn.
  3. After the mixture has cooked down and the pears are very soft remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes before blending.
  4. After a few minutes of cooling, transfer to a food processor or blender. Blend until completely smooth.
  5. Store in a mason jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. Enjoy on toast, pancakes, pound cake, ice cream, or drizzled-on fruit.
