Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Report
Peppermint Hot Chocolate blends skimmed milk and light coconut milk with honey, cocoa powder, and peppermint extract simmered to create a creamy, warm drink with a cool peppermint flavor. Optional whipped cream and candy canes add festive toppings, making it suitable for cozy winter indulgence.

Description

This hot chocolate recipe starts by heating skimmed and coconut milks together to create a smooth base. Honey and cocoa powder dissolve into the warm milk to add sweetness and chocolate flavor. A teaspoon of peppermint extract is simmered into the mixture giving a refreshing mint note that balances the richness of the cocoa.

The drink is simmered gently for five minutes to meld the flavors and ensure the honey and cocoa powder fully integrate. Serving with whipped cream adds a creamy texture contrast and candy canes provide a decorative and flavorful garnish.

This recipe can be modified for dietary preferences, using just skimmed milk to reduce calories or swapping coconut and skimmed milks for vegan-friendly almond milk and replacing honey with maple syrup. Melting dark chocolate into the mixture offers a more indulgent variation.
