Perfect Apple Smoothie

This smoothie blends apple chunks with frozen banana, flax seeds, peanut butter, cinnamon, and almond milk to create a creamy, slightly thick drink with a balanced sweetness and spice. Adding ice at the end produces a slushy texture that's refreshing and smooth. It's a wholesome option that integrates fruit, healthy fats, and fiber in one blended beverage.

Description

The Perfect Apple Smoothie uses fresh apple blended thoroughly to liquefy, combined with frozen banana, ground flax seeds, peanut butter, and cinnamon. The almond milk serves as the base liquid. This mix creates a creamy and slightly thick texture with a flavor profile combining natural sweetness from fruit and warmth from cinnamon.

Adding ice last and blending again turns the smoothie into a cool, slushy consistency that improves its refreshing quality. Peanut butter adds richness and protein, while flax seeds contribute fiber and subtle nuttiness.

This smoothie is meant to be served immediately to enjoy its optimal texture and flavor. Adjusting the liquid can control thickness, and ingredients like dates can substitute banana if desired without significantly altering the taste.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 medium apple , cut into chunks (7 oz.; I use Gala apples)
  • 1/2 frozen banana (3.5 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds 5 grams, ground
  • 1 heaping tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 cup ice cubes (about 4-5 large cubes)

Instructions

  1. In a high-speed blender, combine the apple, banana, flax, peanut butter, cinnamon, and milk. Blend until smooth, stopping to scrape down the blender as needed. The apple should become liquified, which will add more "liquid" to the mix, but if you need to add extra liquid, you can start by adding 2 tablespoons at a time.
  2. Once the mixture is totally smooth, add in the ice and blend again until a slushy texture is achieved. Serve right away for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Nutrition estimates cover the entire smoothie batch.
  • Bananas can be swapped with pitted Medjool dates for different sweetness; extra ice may be needed for the right texture.
