Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers

Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers combine tender sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, and thinly sliced beef seasoned with salt and pepper, all nestled inside green bell pepper halves lined and topped with melted provolone cheese. Baking melds the flavors and softens the peppers, offering a comforting, hearty dish with a classic cheesesteak twist.

Description

This recipe fills halved green bell peppers with a mixture mimicking the flavors of a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Mushrooms and onions are cooked separately until golden, then combined with browned thinly sliced beef strips seasoned simply with salt and black pepper. The mixture is placed inside cleaned bell peppers that are lined with a slice of provolone cheese, topped with the beef and vegetable filling, and covered with another cheese slice.

Baked at 400°F for 25 minutes, the cheese melts and the peppers soften but retain some firmness, making the dish easy to eat by hand or with a knife and fork. The cooking method layers the savory beef and vegetables inside the sweet, slightly crisp green pepper vessel, balancing textures and flavors.

This meal can serve as a satisfying main course and pairs well with simple side salads or potatoes. The use of familiar cheesesteak ingredients in a low-carb vegetable shell adapts the sandwich experience into a baked stuffed pepper format.
