Pigs in a Blanket Recipe

Pigs in a Blanket are cocktail-sized sausage links wrapped in crescent roll dough, baked until golden and brushed with a flavorful garlic butter mix. The tender, savory sausages encased in a flaky, buttery crust make these bite-sized snacks popular for parties or casual meals. The garlic butter finishing enhances aroma and taste, creating a rich appetizer that pairs well with classic condiments.

Description

Pigs in a Blanket start with crescent roll dough cut into strips wrapped tightly around individual cocktail sausages. The assembled pieces are arranged evenly on a baking sheet, brushed with beaten egg to aid browning, and baked at 375°F for 12-15 minutes until the dough turns golden and cooked through.

While baking, a garlic butter is prepared by combining melted unsalted butter with garlic powder, fresh chopped parsley, and ground black pepper. The baked pigs in a blanket are brushed with this mixture to add a fragrant, savory finish.

These snacks are best served warm accompanied by ketchup and mustard for dipping. Their size and seasoning make them convenient for finger food occasions or casual snacking.

For an alternative cooking method, air fryer instructions are available to achieve similar texture and browning.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 tube crescent roll dough 8 ounces
  • 24 links sausage cocktail-sized
  • 1 large egg beaten

Garlic Butter (optional but recommended)

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon parsley chopped, fresh
  • teaspoon black pepper ground

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a cutting board. Using a pizza cutter, cut the rolled-out dough in half lengthwise. Then, cut each rectangle of dough into 12, 2-inch strips. You will need a total of 24 strips of dough.
  3. Place one sausage onto each strip of dough. Tightly roll the sausage link in the dough until it is completely wrapped.
  4. Place the dough-wrapped sausage links onto the baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  5. Use a pastry brush to brush the outside of each with the beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes*, or until the dough is golden brown. While the wrapped sausage links are baking, mix together the garlic butter.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, garlic powder, parsley, and pepper. Brush over the baked pigs in a blanket.
  8. Serve warm with ketchup and mustard for dipping.
