Pimm's Cup
Description
Pimm's Cup blends Pimm's Original No. 1 cup with an assortment of fruit slices including lemon, orange, lime, strawberries, and cucumber, along with fresh mint or borage sprigs. The mixture is allowed to sit briefly so flavors meld before lemon soda is added just before serving to maintain fizz. The preparation involves layering the ingredients in a pitcher and serving over ice in tall glasses, garnished with additional fruit and herbs.
The cocktail offers a combination of herbal, fruity, and citrus notes highlighted by the aromatic mint and crisp cucumber. It is a popular celebratory or social drink that is often made in batches to serve multiple people, though it can be prepared glass by glass.
Fruit can be infused into the alcohol several hours ahead to deepen flavor. The recipe yields servings for four but can be easily increased for larger groups. Choosing a lemon-flavored soda like Sanpellagrino Limonata or other lemon soda balances sweetness and acidity in the finished cup.
