Description

This recipe layers square pretzel snaps on a parchment-lined baking sheet with an unwrapped Hershey Kiss on each. Baking at low temperature softens and partially melts the chocolate. While still warm and glossy, an M&M candy is pressed into each kiss, embedding it partially and adding a colorful, firm candy shell. After cooling fully—often chilled briefly—the chocolate firms, binding the components into one bite.

The snack delivers a harmonious blend of salty and sweet, crunchy and smooth textures, with the pretzel's snap contrasting the chocolate's creaminess and the M&M's coating. They can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to a week.

For best results, use similar types of Hershey Kisses as melting rates vary, and baking until the chocolate is uniformly glossy helps with proper melting and adhesion of the M&Ms.

  • 64 hershey kisses
  • 64 pretzel snaps square shape
  • 64 M&M's

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F.
  2. First place pretzels on a parchment lined baking sheet. You can arrange them pretty close to one another, they won't spread.
  3. Place an unwrapped Hershey kiss on top of the pretzels (1 per pretzel).
  4. Bake for 4-6 minutes in the 200 degree oven. KEY: To make sure the hershey kiss is melted enough so pressing the m&m is warm.
  5. When the chocolate is glossy throughout, remove the cookie tray from the oven and press an M&M candy on top of each pretzel kiss.
  6. Let cool for ~30 minutes (I pop mine into the fridge for 15 minutes) until the chocolate is set and transfer to a ziplock bag or airtight container for storage.

Notes

  • Different Hershey Kiss varieties melt at different rates; plain chocolate Kisses melt more evenly than flavored ones.
  • Store the treats at room temperature after the chocolate has hardened, in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • Use parchment paper on the baking sheet for easy cleanup.
