Instructions
- Get out and measure all of your ingredients.
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Prepare a large rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray and set aside.
- At your workstation, lightly flour your surface.
- Roll your puff pastry out into a 12-14 inch square, as thin as you can, about 1/16-inch thick.
- Using a ruler if necessary to cut pastry into squares.
- We usually aim for squares that are between 3 and 4 inches.
- Transfer your squares on to your prepared sheet.
- Now you have to try and arrange your apple slices in a a tight circle or flower from each apple half on top of each pastry round.
- Combine your sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the sugar mixture evenly over top of each tart.
- Dot each evenly with about 1 teaspoon of butter.
- Bake your tarts until browned around the edges, between 16 to 20 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
- Plain or serve with ice cream, whipped cream and/or caramel sauce.
- Enjoy every bite.
Notes
- Tips:
- Puff pastry defrosts quickly, so if you live in a warmer climate you may need to pop it back into the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Don't slice the apples too thinly. About ¼ inch thickness is perfect. You want them to get tender but not turn mushy.
- This apple tart recipe comes together very quickly, so have all of your ingredients prepped and measured first.
- Mix at least two varieties of apples. I always like to mix my apples for baking for optimal taste.
