Ingredients
- 3/4 brown sugar
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup lard or shortening
- 1/2 cup salted butter
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 330°F or (165°C), and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Add the flour and nutmeg into a bowl and whisk together. Set aside.
- Cream together the butter, lard, and brown sugar until smooth. Then add the flour mixture and mix just until the cookie dough comes together.
- Transfer onto a floured surface and roll out to about 1/4 inch in thickness. If you want thicker shortbread cookies then roll them out to 1/2 inch in thickness.
- Using the desired cookie cutter, cut out pieces and place them onto a lined baking pan. separate them about 1 1/2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden in color.
- Remove from the oven and allow the shortbread to cool on the baking pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to the cooling rack.
