Ricotta Parmesan Garlic Bread

This ricotta parmesan garlic bread spreads a creamy mixture of ricotta, softened butter, mayonnaise, garlic powder, and dried herbs onto halved French bread. It is baked, then topped with fresh grated Parmesan and broiled to achieve a golden, melted cheese crust. The combination of creamy, tangy ricotta and sharp Parmesan with aromatic herbs creates a flavorful garlic bread with a moist yet crisp texture.

Description

Ricotta Parmesan Garlic Bread starts with halving a French bread loaf horizontally. A mixture blending ricotta cheese, softened butter, real mayonnaise, garlic powder, and dried oregano, parsley, and basil is whisked smooth and stirred with half the Parmesan cheese. This creamy spread is applied evenly over the bread halves and baked to warm and meld the flavors.

After baking, the remaining Parmesan is sprinkled on top and the bread is broiled briefly until the cheese melts and takes a golden color with some browning. This step creates a richly flavored crust with contrasting textures. The dried herbs add subtle earthiness and garlic powder rounds out the flavor.

The result is a garlic bread that is moist and creamy inside with a cheesy, crispy topping. Additional Parmesan can be added for those preferring an extra cheesy bread. It works well alongside soups, salads, or pasta dishes.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 French bread loaf
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup butter softened
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise real
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon oregano dried
  • ½ teaspoon parsley dried
  • ½ teaspoon basil dried
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese divided, freshly grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Slice French bread in half, across the equator.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the ingredients EXCEPT the Parmesan cheese until smooth. Stir in 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.
  4. Evenly spread Ricotta mixture over both pieces of French Bread. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F.
  5. Remove bread from oven and sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese. Without moving oven rack, broil bread for 2 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden (watch closely so it doesn’t burn!). Garnish with fresh parsley and basil (optional).

Notes

  • For a cheesier finish, increase the amount of Parmesan cheese added before baking.
  • Watch the bread closely while broiling to avoid burning the cheese.
