Description
This Salted Pretzel & Caramel Fudge starts by melting semi-sweet chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk into a smooth, firm fudge base. Salt and vanilla intensify the flavor. It’s poured into a lined pan, sprinkled and gently pressed with half the crushed salted pretzels, providing a crunchy, salty texture.
A caramel layer made from melted caramel bits and water is spread evenly over the fudge and pretzels, topped with the remaining pretzels to add extra crunch and saltiness. Once chilled in the refrigerator for two hours, the fudge sets firm enough to cut into one-inch pieces.
The contrast of creamy chocolate fudge, chewy caramel, and crunchy salted pretzels creates a balanced, rich flavor profile combining sweet and salty, with varied textures in every bite. This treat suits serving at gatherings or as a dense dessert snack.
Ingredients
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk can
- 3 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup pretzels crushed with some big pieces, salted
- 11 ounces caramel bits or caramel squares
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- line an 8 x 8 baking pan with foil or wax paper so that it hangs over the edges
- melt chocolate chips and condensed milk together
- once melted remove from heat and add salt and vanilla
- pour into baking dish and smooth out into an even layer
- sprinkle evenly with 1/2 of crushed pretzels
- press gently into the fudge
- in a small saucepan melt caramel with water until smooth
- pour over fudge and pretzels and spread into an even layer
- sprinkle remaining pretzels over caramel in an even layer
- place in fridge and cool for 2 hours
- remove, cut into 1-inch pieces & enjoy
