The Sazerac is a cocktail originating from New Orleans, named after the Sazerac brand from Forge et Fils. A combination of brandy or rye whiskey, absinthe, Peychaud's Bitters and sugar.

Ingredients
- large ice cubes
- 5 dashes of Peychaud bitters
- 1 tablespoon sugar syrup , 50% sugar, 50% water
- 2 oz. cognac (or American Rye Whisky)
- 1 tablespoon Absinthe , to rinse glass
- 1 lemon zest
- EQUIPMENT
- 1 Cocktail spoon
- Old Fashioned Glass

Instructions
- This cocktail is made directly in an old fashioned glass.
- Add ice cubes to the glass to chill.
- Rinse with absinthe, then discard.
- Add the Peychaud bitters.
- Add the sugar syrup.
- Then pour in the main ingredient, cognac or American rye whisky.
- Mix everything.
- Garnish with a lemon zest.
