Shamrock Sour Recipe

The Shamrock Sour is a cocktail blending Irish whiskey with lime juice, simple syrup, and a hint of mint extract, brightened with a touch of green food coloring. The salted glass rim decorated with green sprinkles adds a festive touch, while the fresh lime wedge and mint garnish enhance the drink’s refreshing citrus and mint notes.

Description

The Shamrock Sour Recipe combines Irish whiskey, lime juice, and simple syrup shaken together with mint extract and a tiny drop of green food coloring to control its hue. The cocktail is served over ice in glasses rimmed with lime juice and green sprinkles or sanding sugar, giving a visually appealing presentation. Garnishing with lime wedges and fresh mint leaves adds a fragrant brightness.

This cocktail delivers a balanced tartness from the lime with the warmth of the whiskey and subtle herbal tones from the mint extract. Preparation includes chilling the glasses after rimming to help maintain the drink’s cool temperature.

Applying the green food coloring sparingly by using a wooden skewer helps avoid an overly intense color, allowing for a more natural appearance. The drink suits festive settings where a bright and slightly sweet sour whiskey cocktail fits well.
