Smothered Fried Pork Chops

Smothered Fried Pork Chops are classic Southern food! Breaded fried pork chops are smothered in pan gravy and served with your favorite Sunday supper sides!

Ingredients

Servings
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil (enough to cover the bottom of the frying pan)
  • 4 Open Nature® Boneless Chops
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup milk
  • fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Put the flour in a shallow pan or on a dinner plate. Add onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Use a fork to combine.
  2. Remove the Open Nature® Boneless Chops from the package and pat dry with a paper towel. Dredge the pork chops in seasoned flour so that the entire chop is coated. Shake off the excess flour. Set aside on a plate.
  3. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil and let sit until the oil gets hot. 
  4. Carefully add pork chops to the hot oil. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for 3-4 minutes on the other side,  until golden brown.
  5. Remove pork chops from the pan. Add 2 tablespoons of seasoned flour to the pan drippings. Mix in the flour and then the chicken broth.
  6. Bring to a simmer and let gravy cook for about 5 minutes to thicken slightly. Stir in milk for cream gravy. 
  7. Return the pork chops to the pan and coat them in the gravy. Simmer for another 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately. 

Notes

  • If you prefer, you can substitute coconut oil.
