Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 oz tequila also known as blanco tequila, silver
  • 1/2 jalapeño
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice from 1 lime, freshly squeezed
  • 1 oz orange liqueur (you can use Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1/2 oz sweetener (or to taste, you can use simple syrup or agave nectar)
  • ice cubes
  • salt for rimming the class, lime in wedges
  • chili powder
  • lime

Instructions

  1. Salt the rim: Fill a small plate with salt. Rub a piece of lemon slice around the rim of the serving glass and immediately dip into the mixture of salt and chili powder. Set aside.
  2. Slice the jalapeno: Cut it into thin slices. Then remove the seeds.
  3. Make the spicy margarita mix: In a cocktail shaker, add ice, tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, syrup and jalapeno slices. Shake for about 20 seconds. Give it a taste and add more syrup or other ingredients if needed.
  4. Serve: Pour the mixture into the rimmed glass. Garnish with lime wedges and jalapeno slices. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Dip the rim in the salt immediately after rubbing with lemon to help it stick to the glass.
  • You can customize the level of sweetness by starting with less syrup and slowly adding more to taste.
  • Add more jalapeno for a spicier drink.
