Ingredients
Margaritas
- 4 oz fresh strawberries diced (about 4-5 large berries)
- 2 tsp granulated sugar
- 3/4 oz lime juice about 1.5 Tbsp
- 2 oz silver tequila about 4 Tbsp or 1/4 cup
- 1/2 oz triple sec about 0.5 Tbsp
Garnishes
- additional granulated sugar for the rim
- Lime wedges
- fresh strawberries
Instructions
Rim glass (optional but recommended)
- Add the additional sugar to a shallow plate or bowl.
- Make a small slit in the lime wedge and place it over the rim of a serving glass. Run the lime wedge around the rim, then dip the rim into the sugar.
Blend berries
- To another glass or jar, add diced strawberries, granulated sugar (2 tsp per glass), and lime juice.
- Use an immersion or hand blender, pulse until mixture is relatively smooth.
- ** If you don't have an immersion blender, you can use a small food processor, traditional blender, or muddle the mixture using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon. **
- If desired, you can strain the strawberry mixture through a mesh sieve to remove most of the strawberry seeds.
Make the margarita
- To the rimmed glass, add the strawberry mixture, pour in tequila and triple sec, add ice, and stir to combine.
Garnish and serve
- Serve cold, with a lime wedge and strawberry on the side of the glass.
Notes
- Large Batch Instructions:
- This recipe makes 1 (roughly 5 oz) cocktail.
- Please feel free to adjust the amount of tequila if you prefer a stronger or weaker drink.
- You can make a large batch with any multiple of the recipe, you just need to multiply all the ingredient amounts by the same number, and you'll want to make sure you have a large enough pitcher to hold everything.
- In a large bowl or jar, add diced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lime juice.
- Use an immersion blender to blend until mostly smooth.
- Strain mixture in a mesh sieve placed over a large pitcher (to remove most of the seeds).
- To the pitcher, add tequila and triple sec.
- Stir to combine, then cover and chill for several hours or overnight.
- When ready to serve, stir really well, then pour the contents of the pitcher over ice into glasses and garnish as desired.
