Te De Canela
Description
Te De Canela involves bringing water to a gentle boil and steeping several cinnamon sticks at low heat for 10 to 15 minutes to release their aromatic oils and flavor into the water. This produces a fragrant and soothing spiced infusion.
Sweeteners such as honey or your preferred sugar can be added while the tea is hot so they dissolve easily, providing natural sweetness that balances the cinnamon’s slight bitterness. Citrus wedges like lemon or orange slices can add a crisp, fresh note to the tea, complementing the cinnamon’s warmth.
After steeping and optional sweetening, the tea is strained to remove the cinnamon sticks before serving. This simple preparation results in a naturally caffeine-free beverage that can be served hot for relaxation or to soothe digestion.
Ingredients
- 16 ounce water
- 3 to 4 cinnamon stick
- honey optional, or your preferred sweetener, to serve
- lemon wedges optional, or orange wedges, to serve
Instructions
- Bring the 2 cups of water to a gentle boil in a pot. Once the water reaches a boil, add the cinnamon sticks to the pot. Reduce the heat to low and steep the tea for 10-15 minutes.
- If you like sweet tea, add honey or sugar to taste while it's hot. Stir the mixture until the sweetener dissolves. Additionally, a few citrus slices can add a refreshing twist to your tea.
- Turn off the heat and let it steep for another 5 minutes. Strain the tea to remove the cinnamon sticks if needed.
