Turkish Kofta & Potato In The Oven

Turkish kofta & potato slices cooked in the oven with tomato sauce. It is very healthy and easy recipe you can make with minced meat.

This traditional Turkish Kofta & Potato is very popular in Turkey and mostly served with Turkish Rice Pilaf. It is possible to fry classic koftas on a stovetop served with pilaf. In this version, we are going to bake everything instead of frying. You can add different vegetables like eggplant too.

Instructions

Preparing Koftas:

  1. For the kofta mixture; add cut in 4 onions, garlic and bread pieces to processor. And process them until they are very small pieces.
  2. And after processing, add ground beef, parsley, salt, black pepper, cumin and cayenne pepper.
  3. To make the meatballs a little soft better, add some water and olive oil. And process them until you get well combined kofta mixture.
  4. Shape the meatballs at the same size of potato and veggie slices. Because we want to get aesthetic show.

Slicing Veggies And Assembling:

  1. Slice the potatoes and tomatoes in about 2 cm thickness.
  2. Assemble koftas and veggies in a medium size tray. But using round tray isn’t necessary. You can use rectangular oven safe pan too.
  3. If your peppers are thick cut them in 2 pieces. And then put them on top of the koftas and veggies.

Making Tomato Sauce:

  1. In medium size pan, heat 2 tbsp olive oil. Then add tomato paste and stir them together until they are combined. And after 3-4 minutes, add hot water to make a thick sauce. And simmer 2-3 more minutes and turn off the heat.
  2. Pour the tomato sauce all over the koftas and veggies. And bake in 200 celsius degree oven for 45-60 minutes.
