  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 4 beef or pork hot dogs
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon bourbon
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup BBQ sauce your choice
  • Fresh parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wrap each hot dog with a slice of bacon, securing the ends with toothpicks if needed.
  3. Place the bacon-wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the hot dogs are heated through.
  4. While the hot dogs are baking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until soft and golden.
  5. Add the bourbon to the onions and let it cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the alcohol to evaporate.
  6. Stir in the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes until the onions are caramelized and the glaze has thickened.
  7. Once the hot dogs are done, remove them from the oven and place them in the buns.
  8. Drizzle with BBQ sauce, top with the bourbon-glazed onions, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
