20 min Healing Broth Soup
Description
The 20 min Healing Broth Soup uses a combination of fresh ingredients including garlic, ginger, and turmeric, along with a fragrant blend of spices such as bay leaf, juniper berries, black pepper, nutmeg, and sage. These ingredients are simmered together in a mixture of water and broth to develop a rich yet clear broth infused with herbal and spicy undertones. The addition of fresh lime or lemon juice at the end adds a subtle brightness that balances the earthy notes from turmeric and ginger.
This recipe relies on simmering gently for about 12 to 15 minutes to extract the flavors without overcooking the fresh components, preserving their brightness and some pungency. The strained broth is light in texture but packed with a complex aromatic profile from the carefully selected spices and herbs.
It is served hot with a garnish of fresh herbs like cilantro, parsley, or chives, which complement the warm, grounding flavors and add a fresh note. The broth could be enjoyed alone for hydration and comfort or used as a medicinal tonic base.
The recipe notes specify you can use any preferred broth base such as vegetable, chicken, or beef, including homemade or packaged options. If fresh turmeric root isn't available, dried turmeric powder is an acceptable substitute. This flexibility makes it accessible to various pantry setups and preferences.
