Report
Air Fryer Apple Turnovers. Introducing you to the best homemade apple turnovers cooked in the air fryer.
Share:
Ingredients
- Air Fryer Pie Crust
- 1 large apple
- 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- ½ Tbsp Greek yoghurt
- Egg wash
- 1 Tbsp cinnamon
- 1 Tsp nutmeg
- 3 Tbsp granulated sugar
Kitchen Gadgets
- Cosori Air Fryer
- Pasty Maker
Instructions
- Peel and dice your apple into small chunks. Load into a mixing bowl with extra virgin olive oil, 1Tbsp of sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well with your hands and then place into the air fryer.
- Air fry for 8 minutes at 180c/360f and then whilst they are cooking make your pastry.
- Roll out your pastry and then place the bottom of the pasty maker over it and cut out your circles. You might have to roll a second time to get three pasty circles. Then place the pasty circles on a clean floured worktop as you make them. Then once you are done making the pasty circles place one at a time into your pasty cutter.
- Place the apple chunks back into the bowl with all the other ingredients including the Greek yoghurt and another 1tbsp of sugar. Mix with a fork. Then load the filling into one half of the turnover, making sure you don’t overfill it.
- Push down, making sure it creates the beautiful pasty pattern. Do this until you have made all your turnovers.
- Then place foil in the air fryer basket and cover the tops of the apple turnovers with egg wash and then sprinkle with the last of the sugar.
- Air fry for 8 minutes at 200c/400f before serving.
Notes
- Apples. I recommend a big cooking apple such as granny smiths. But you could mix and match depending on what you have in.
- Sugar. We find that for the best apple turnovers or hand pies, that you want to cook the apples in sugar, load the apples into the pasty cutter with a little sugar and then sprinkle sugar on the outside too.
- Quantity. Our pastry that we use, makes 3 pasties or turnovers. You can double this up to make six or make as little or as much as you want.
- Thanks for reading our air fryer apple turnovers recipe on Recipe This. We have many more air fryer recipes for you to check out next. Though if you would like to more pasty recipes, I recommend you try our air fryer cheese and onion pasties next.
