Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds baby potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon peri-peri seasoning or cajun spice
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Scrub and wash the potatoes. Place them in a large cooking pot and add water until the potatoes are submerged.
- Cook the potatoes at medium heat and add a teaspoon of salt once it reaches boiling point.
- Boil the potatoes until they are cooked through.
- Drain the potatoes and discard the water. You can leave them on a colander until they are dry and no more liquid. Or, you can dry them with a paper towel.
- Arrange and lay the potatoes on a chopping board. Using a potato masher or a pestle, smash the potatoes until they are slightly flattened and smashed.
- Sprinkle the cajun spice all over the potatoes. Turn the spuds and sprinkle again on the other side.
- Drizzle the olive oil.
- Arrange the smashed potatoes on the air fryer basket. You can line your air fryer with a parchment paper liner.
- Set your air fryer to 400°F/ 200°C for 15 minutes or until you can see the edges are crispy.
Notes
- You can swap the cajun spice with any other spices you like. Some choices include peri-peri seasoning or a mix of garam masala and cayenne pepper.
- Replace olive oil with other neutral cooking oil, such as canola or sunflower oil.
- This recipe also works for Instant Pot with an air fryer function.
