Almond Crunch Toffee Bars

These decadent dessert bars have a delicious shortbread base that is topped with chocolate, toffee and, almonds!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/3 cups Heath Toffee Bits OR Skor bits
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup sliced almonds divided
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Grease sides of 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. 
  3. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. 
  4. Gradually add flour, beating until well blended. 
  5. Press dough evenly into prepared pan. 
  6. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. 
  7. Meanwhile, combine toffee bits and corn syrup in medium saucepan. 
  8. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until toffee is melted (about 10 to 12 minutes). Stir in 1/2 cup almonds. 
  9. Spread toffee mixture to within 1/4-inch of edges of crust. 
  10. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup almonds and chocolate chips over the top. 
  11. Bake an additional 15 minutes or until bubbly. 
  12. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
