Banana Split Dump Cake

The Banana Split Dump Cake layers fresh chopped strawberries, sliced bananas, and pineapple topped with a blend of white cake mix, banana cream pudding mix, milk, and chocolate chips, baked until golden and set. The result is a moist, fruit-filled dessert combining creamy and cakey textures with tropical sweetness.

Description

This dump cake recipe starts by mixing banana cream pudding with milk and then folding in white cake mix and chocolate chips to form a thick batter. Fresh fruit – strawberries, banana slices, and chopped pineapple – is combined with sugar and macerated briefly to release juices, then spread evenly into a baking dish.

The cake batter is spread on top of the fruit mixture to create a thick layer that bakes together, allowing the fruit juices to mingle with the cake as it cooks. Baking at moderate heat until a toothpick inserted comes out clean ensures the cake is cooked through but moist.

The finished dessert is best served warm, optionally topped with whipped cream, and blends creamy banana pudding notes with fresh fruit brightness and chocolate punctuations. This cake offers an easy, approachable way to enjoy a layered banana split flavor in one dish.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 box white cake mix 15.25 ounces, I used the Super Moist Deluxe White
  • 1 box Banana Cream Pudding mix 3.4 ounces, instant
  • ½ cup milk chocolate chips good quality
  • 1 ¾ cup milk skim
  • 1 cup strawberry chopped, fresh
  • 2 banana sliced
  • 1 cup pineapple chopped
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • Whipped Cream optional, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Spray a 9/13 inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the pudding mix with milk. Whisk until fully combined. Use a large spoon or whisk to add in the cake mix until fully incorporated and smooth. The mixture will be quite thick, which is fine. Stir in the chocolate chips. Set aside.
  4. In another large bowl, mix together the strawberries, banana, pineapple, and sugar. Stir to combine and let macerate for at least 5 minutes.
  5. When ready to make the cake, pour the fruit into the bottom of the baking dish, making a thin layer.
  6. Top with the cake mix and spread with a spatula or spoon to create a smooth top.
  7. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until the cake is completely cooked through (when a toothpick inserted in comes out clean).
  8. Serve warm topped with fresh whipped cream.
  9. Enjoy!
