Bloody Caesar Drink Recipe (Best Bloody Mary Variation)
Description
The Bloody Caesar Drink Recipe blends tomato juice and clam juice with flavorful components such as pickle juice, prepared horseradish, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and fresh lime juice. The mixture is poured over ice in a salt-rimmed glass and enhanced by adding a spirit of your choice, including vodka, gin, tequila, mezcal, or bourbon. The combination creates a complex, savory cocktail with a balance of heat, acidity, saltiness, and umami flavor.
Preparation involves rimming the glass with lime and salt before assembling the drink with ice. The clam juice contributes a marine brininess distinctive to this cocktail variation, while pickle juice adds a sharp, vinegary contrast. Horseradish and Tabasco increase the heat and pungency, complemented by Worcestershire sauce's depth and lime's brightness.
This cocktail is typically served with garnishes tailored to personal preferences, making it a versatile choice for brunch or a flavorful alternative to a traditional Bloody Mary. For larger gatherings, the ingredients can be mixed in batches, with alcohol added individually to suit guests’ tastes.
When making a pitcher, it is recommended to prepare the non-alcoholic components and add spirits separately to maintain freshness and accommodate different alcohol preferences.
Ingredients
- salt we use this one, for the rim
- 1-2 ounces of your favorite spirit vodka, gin, tequila, mezcal, and bourbon work best
- 1 tablespoon clam juice available in most grocery stores
- 1 tablespoon pickle juice from a jar of pickles. Optional but highly recommended.
- 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish each
- 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- lime juice from 1/4 lime
- ⅔ cup tomato juice
- black pepper a pinch
Instructions
- Wet the rim of a 12-ounce glass with a lime wedge then dip it in rim salt. Fill the glass half full of ice.
- Add your choice of spirit, the clam juice, pickle juice, horseradish, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and lime juice. Fill the glass with tomato juice.
- Top with a little black pepper and your choice of garnishes.
Notes
- Measure Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce by about 10 shakes each to achieve the recommended teaspoon.
- For parties, prepare a pitcher with clam juice, pickle juice, horseradish, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, lime juice, and tomato juice separately from alcohol.
- Allow guests to add their preferred amount and type of spirit to their own glasses for customization.
