Description
Brazilian Lemonade combines five limes sliced into pieces with sweetened condensed milk and water blended briefly. The quick blend extracts bright lime flavor while preventing excessive bitterness from the peel. The mixture is strained to remove pulp and seeds and poured over ice for a chilled drink. An additional squeeze of fresh lime juice can boost the lime brightness just before serving.
This beverage offers a creamy balance between tart lime and sweet condensed milk, yielding a smooth texture with a lively citrus note. It’s popular as a refreshing summer drink or accompaniment to meals where a cool, sweet-tart contrast is desired.
Adjust the sweetness by adding more condensed milk or sugar if preferred, and the intensity of the lime flavor by diluting with more water. Ice dilutes the mixture over time, softening the lime punch gradually.
Ingredients
- 5 lime
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 4 cups water
- ice
Instructions
- slice 4 of the limes in 8 parts each and add them to a blender
- add the condensed milk and the water to the blender along with the limes and blend for no more than 15 seconds (the more you blend, the bitterer the limeade will turn out)
- using a fine mesh strainer, strain the juice from the blender into a pitcher filled with ice
- slice the remaining lime in half, and sqeeze into the pitcher for an extra punch of lime flavor
- Stir and serve right away!
