Ingredients
- 46-ounce jar whole dill pickles
- 3 cups sugar
- ½ cup white vinegar
- 1 heaped tablespoon pickling spice
Instructions
- On a cutting board or plate, cut the pickles into thick slices. Place them in a large bowl and save half of the pickle juice.
- Cover the pickle slices with the sugar and stir well to combine. Pour the reserved pickle juice and the vinegar over the pickles. Stir thoroughly. Let the pickles sit at room temperature for several hours, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves.
- Place the pickling spice into the center of a large square of cheesecloth. Make a spice bundle by tying up the corners of the cheesecloth or securing it with a piece of string.
- Place the bundle of pickling spice into the pickle jar followed by the pickles and juices. Cover tightly with the jar lid and refrigerate. Let the pickles marinate in the fridge for 4-5 days, turning the jar upside down every so often to mix the pickle juice.
- Serve, and enjoy!
