Cava sangria
Description
The Cava sangria mixes citrus juices, orange liqueur, and brandy with fresh peaches, orange slices, and strawberries, all topped with a bottle of bubbly cava. This creates a drink with bold fruit notes balanced by the dry, sparkling character of the cava. The fruits soften in the fridge, infusing the sangria with natural sweetness and fresh aromas while maintaining a crisp texture from the sparkling wine. Sugar can be adjusted to taste, accommodating preferences for sweetness.
Serve the sangria over ice in glasses, with extra ice added to maintain coolness. It's well suited to accompany casual gatherings or as a light cocktail pairing for finger foods or tapas-style snacks.
Ingredients
- 1 cup orange juice
- ½ lemon juice (ie juice from ½ lemon)
- ¼ cup triple sec or grand marnier or other orange liqueur
- ¼ cup brandy optional
- 2 peaches
- 1 orange
- 1 cup strawberries sliced
- 25.3 fl oz cava (ie 1 bottle)
- 1 tablespoon sugar optional, or a little more to taste
Instructions
- Mix together the orange juice, lemon juice, orange liqueur and brandy, if using, in a glass pitcher/jug. Slice the peaches, orange and strawberries and add them to the pitcher. Put in fridge to chill if not using immediately.
- Carefully add the cava to the pitcher, trying to avoid it bubbling up too much, mix gently and add a little sugar to taste if you like (1-2tbsp at most). Add some ice and serve, with a little more ice in the glasses.
