Champagne Lemonade
Description
Starting with a homemade simple syrup of equal parts sugar and water, this lemonade base is combined with cold water, fresh lemon juice, and lemon slices to create a balanced, lightly sweetened citrus flavor. The addition of cold Moscato, a sweet and fruity Champagne-style wine, introduces a sparkling component that livens the drink and adds subtle wine aromas. Lemon slices in the pitcher infuse additional zest, while garnishing glasses with lemon wedges provides a visual and flavor accent.
The Champagne Lemonade is ideal for serving chilled in flutes during gatherings or warm-weather occasions. Its bright, citrus profile and mild sweetness complement the sparkling wine’s character without overpowering it, making it a versatile cocktail or celebratory beverage.
Store-bought simple syrup or lemonade can substitute the homemade versions for convenience without significantly altering the drink’s taste. This offers flexibility for quick assembly and consistent sweetness.
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 8 cups water cold
- 1 cup lemon juice fresh
- 750 ml moscato wine chilled, Champagne style
- 1 lemon sliced, plus 1 lemon, cut into wedges, for garnish
Instructions
- Make a simple syrup by adding the sugar and water to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over low heat. Stir mixture until the sugar dissolves, then remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
- Pour cold water and lemon juice into a large glass pitcher. Add the simple syrup and the lemon slices. Stir well. Pour the lemonade into champagne flutes, filling 1/2 to 2/3 of the way full and top off with champagne. Garnish the rims with lemon wedges!
Notes
- Store-bought simple syrup can replace homemade simple syrup.
- Store-bought lemonade may be used in place of homemade lemonade.
