Champagne Strawberries

Report
Champagne Strawberries are fresh strawberries soaked in champagne to infuse flavor and then coated in sugar for a sweet, sparkling treat. Poking the berries helps the champagne soak in, while soaking in the refrigerator softens the berries and imparts subtle champagne notes. The sugared coating adds a crunchy sweetness perfect for serving as a festive appetizer or dessert garnish.

Description

This preparation starts by soaking strawberries in water mixed with baking soda to clean them thoroughly before puncturing individual berries with a toothpick. This creates channels for champagne to penetrate during a 3-4 hour soak in the refrigerator. After draining and patting dry, each berry is dipped in granulated sugar, which adheres to the damp surface and forms a crisp, sweet coating.

The result is a combination of juicy, slightly softened berries infused with champagne's delicate bubbles and aroma, balanced by the sugary crunch outside. The method produces a refreshing, elegant treat often used at parties or celebrations.

Serving these berries as a standalone snack or as part of a dessert platter showcases their sparkling character. The sugar coating adds texture contrast and allows a sweet bite with each strawberry.

Storing in an airtight container keeps their freshness up to three days, while freezing extends preservation to three months. This allows for preparation ahead of events.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 bottle champagne
  • 18 strawberry fresh
  • ½ cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Wash the strawberries thoroughly. Fill a mixing bowl with water and some baking soda, place the strawberries in the bowl for 20 minutes. Then drain and rinse.
  2. Use a toothpick to poke a hole or two into each strawberry. I like to do this because it helps the champagne soak into the berry.
  3. Cover the bowl and let soak in the fridge for 3-4 hours. Remove the berries and gently pat dry.
  4. Dip into a bowl with sugar and then place on a serving tray. ENJOY!!

Notes

  • Store the prepared berries in an airtight container for up to three days to maintain freshness.
  • For longer storage, freeze the sugared berries for up to three months.
