Cheesy Sausage Cabbage and Broccoli Bake
Description
This bake starts by searing smoked sausage slices in olive oil, creating browned edges and rendered flavor. Thinly sliced green cabbage and small broccoli florets are sautéed along with the sausage in the same skillet, blending their flavors.
A sauce is prepared by melting butter, cream cheese, and heavy cream, then whisking in spices including garlic powder, paprika, crushed red pepper, salt, and pepper. Sharp white cheddar cheese is melted into this mixture, forming a seasoned, creamy cheese sauce that coats the vegetables and sausage.
The mixture is transferred back to the oven-safe skillet and topped with shredded Gruyere cheese. Covered with foil and baked at 375°F for 35-40 minutes, the dish bubbles and the topping melts to a golden brown state. Fresh parsley garnish adds a mild herbal note.
