Classic Pigs in a Blanket
Description
This recipe starts by preheating the oven and preparing a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone mat. Crescent roll dough is pinched into a sheet and cut into strips, which are then wrapped around thirds of hot dog pieces. The option to sprinkle poppy seeds adds a mild nutty flavor and attractive finish. Baking for 10 to 12 minutes crisps the dough to a golden brown while the hot dogs inside remain juicy.
The combination of flaky dough and salty, cooked hot dogs makes these snacks popular for casual entertaining or quick bites. Serving them immediately ensures the dough stays flaky and the hot dogs warm. Their size makes them easy to eat with fingers, and the recipe is straightforward enough for quick preparation.
Ingredients
- 1 crescent rolls 8-ounce tube
- 8 hotdog cut into thirds
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat; set aside.
- Roll out the crescent rolls into one sheet, placing 2 triangles together by pinching the seams to make a square. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut each rectangle into 6 strips.
- Wrap each strip around each hot dog, leaving a little space at the edges. Sprinkle the tops with poppy seeds, if using.
- Place into oven and bake until golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
