Cotton Candy Champagne Recipe
Description
The Cotton Candy Champagne Recipe combines the crisp effervescence of sparkling wine with a decorative and sweet cotton candy accent. First, the glass rims are dipped in warmed honey to act as adhesive, then coated with colorful sprinkles for a festive look. Each champagne flute or coupe is filled about two-thirds full with sparkling wine, and a piece of cotton candy is carefully balanced on the rim, held in place if needed with a cocktail pick. The cotton candy remains dry initially, dissolving into the sparkling wine only when the drinker chooses to stir or sip it, imparting a subtle sweetness. The resulting contrast between the crisp bubbles and soft sugar adds an element of whimsy.
This recipe works well for celebratory toasts and parties, offering a visually appealing and interactive drinking experience. Using coupe glasses enhances the presentation, but flutes are equally suitable. For a nonalcoholic version, sparkling juice can be substituted.
To prep ahead, the honey and sprinkle rims can be created a day in advance, and cotton candy should remain sealed until use to prevent shrinkage and hardening. The combination of textures and controlled sweetness makes this recipe a distinctive twist on traditional sparkling wine presentation.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 3 tablespoons Sprinkles festive
- 1 bottle sparkling wine see notes
- cotton candy any color
Instructions
- Put the honey into a small bowl that's slightly wider than your glasses. Warm it gently in the microwave so that it is very runny. Put the sprinkles into another small bowl. Dip the rim of a glass into the honey then into the sprinkles. Repeat with all the glasses you plan on using.
- Carefully fill each champagne glass ⅔ full with sparkling wine. Balance a piece of cotton candy on the rim of each glass, using a cocktail pick to help keep it in place if needed. Do not let the cotton candy touch the champagne or it will dissolve.
Notes
- Prepare honey and sprinkle rims on glassware one day in advance to save time during serving.
- Keep cotton candy sealed until just before serving to maintain its fluffy texture and prevent it from shrinking or hardening.
- Serve these drinks in small coupe glasses for the best visual effect, though champagne flutes are also acceptable.
- For a nonalcoholic option, replace sparkling wine with no-alcohol sparkling juice to create a playful mocktail.
