Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 12 oz bowtie pasta farfalle
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish optional
Instructions
Cook the pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the bowtie pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1 cup of pasta water for later use.
Cook the beef:
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove any excess fat from the skillet.
Sauté the onions and garlic:
- Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the onion is softened and the garlic is fragrant.
Prepare the creamy sauce:
- Add the beef broth to the skillet, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper. Continue to simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
Combine the pasta and sauce:
- Add the cooked bowtie pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy beef sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to achieve the desired consistency.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes to ensure the pasta is well coated and heated through.
Serve:
- Garnish with fresh parsley and additional grated Parmesan if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
- Add vegetables like spinach, peas, or mushrooms to the sauce for added flavor and nutrition.
- If you prefer a spicier dish, add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the sauce.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove, adding a splash of cream or broth if needed.
