Ingredients
- 4 Hash Brown Patties frozen or thawed
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 390° F - 400° F (205° C).
- If using a liner, place frozen hash brown patties on liner and carefully lower to preheated basket.
- Cook at 390-400°F, checking at 10-13 minutes; typically, you shouldn’t have to flip them, but if you prefer, flip them halfway through air frying.
- Once golden brown and crispy, carefully remove the hot hash browns from the air fryer using tongs. If you enjoy extra crispy hash browns, cook them for 2-3 minutes longer. Avoid exceeding 18 minutes, or they may begin to burn or become overly dry. See notes for how to fry thawed hash brown patties.

Notes
- How to Cook Air Fryer Hash Browns Not Frozen in Air Fryer
- This is still a simple recipe if you are air-frying thawed hash browns (not frozen). Lightly spritz each one with spray oil. A little oil helps the hash brown patties become nice and crunchy on the outside. If desired, add an air fryer liner to the bottom of the air fryer basket.
- Next, lay two to four patties in an even layer in the basket and cook in preheated 390°F air fryer for about 5-6 minutes. Then, flip the hash browns and continue frying for another five minutes. Like the directions above, cook the potatoes for up to 18 minutes if you prefer extra crisp hash browns. Depending on your air fryer model, you may not need to flip them.
- Variations & Substitutions
- Make Loaded Hash Brown Patties: Sour cream, air fryer bacon pieces, melty cheddar cheese, and sliced scallions—the perfect toppings for loaded hash brown patties!
- Garlic and Onion Hash Brown Patties: Add a sprinkle of garlic powder and onion powder—YUM!
- Cheesy Hash Browns: Dip your hash brown patties in hot cheese sauce.
- Spicy Hash Browns: Sprinkle the patties with paprika, cayenne pepper chili powder to turn up the heat. For a final touch, drizzle it with your favorite hot sauce or a drizzle of hot honey!
- Air Fryer Tater Tots: Tater tots are essentially the same thing as a hash brown, just smaller, proceed with the same recipe, shaking them at the halfway point, and remove when crispy.
