Easy colada morada with oatmeal {Spiced oatmeal berry drink}

Colada morada with oatmeal blends traditional spiced berry flavors with the hearty texture of soaked oats to create a thick, flavorful drink. The combination of naranjilla pulp, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and citrus peels infuses the warm liquid base with complex spices, balanced by the natural sweetness of panela and fresh berries. This drink can be served warm or cold, making it versatile for various occasions and calming to enjoy as a refreshing treat or cozy beverage.

Description

Easy colada morada with oatmeal takes classic spiced fruits and adds soaked oats for thickness and body. The preparation starts by soaking oats in water, while separately simmering a mixture of water, naranjilla pulp (which can be substituted with passion fruit or pineapple), cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, orange peel, lemon verbena, lemongrass, and panela. After simmering and straining, the oats and mixed berries are blended with some of the spiced liquid. This blend is then strained again and combined with the remaining spiced liquid to be cooked briefly with diced strawberries. The result is a gently thickened, spiced berry drink that carries both fruity acidity and warm spice notes, enlivened by the texture of oats.

The drink's texture ranges from smooth to slightly hearty due to the oatmeal, supporting the fruity flavors while providing substance. It can be enjoyed warm to emphasize the spices or cold for a refreshing effect. This colada morada variant is suitable as a comforting beverage during cooler days or a nourishing drink anytime you want a spiced fruit refreshment.
