Easy Detox Smoothie (with NO weird ingredients!)
Description
This smoothie mixes green apple, frozen pineapple and banana, fresh spinach and cilantro, and minced fresh ginger with water or orange juice. Blended until smooth, it produces a vibrant green drink with balanced sweetness from fruits and fresh herbal notes from cilantro and spinach. The lime juice adds brightness and a bit of tartness to the flavor profile.
The inclusion of ginger adds a subtle spicy warmth, complementing the sweet and herbal flavors. The frozen fruits contribute to a thick, cold texture without dilution. The recipe recommends blending leafy greens and herbs with liquid first before adding fruit if a high-speed blender is not available to ensure thorough blending.
This drink can be served immediately as a refreshing beverage to complement a meal or as a light snack. Variations include adding protein powder or seeds for additional nutrition. The recipe was updated recently with improved photos but remains unchanged.
Ingredients
- ½ cup water (or orange juice)
- 1 green apple
- ½ cup pineapple frozen chunks
- ½ banana frozen
- ½ inch ginger peeled and minced, fresh
- 1 cup spinach fresh
- small handful cilantro fresh
- 1 tablespoon lime juice fresh
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve right away.
- If you don't have have a high-speed blender, I recommend blending the spinach, cilantro, and ginger with the water first, to help break them down completely. Then add in the fruit and lime juice, and blend again.
Notes
- Nutrition information is approximate and should be considered as an estimate.
- Protein powder, ground flax seeds, or hemp hearts can be added to increase fullness and nutrition.
- For blenders without high power, blend leafy greens and herbs with liquid first to improve texture before adding fruit.
- The recipe was updated visually in May 2024 without changes to ingredients or method.
