French Onion Pork Chops
Report
French Onion Pork Chops are cooked low and slow in a caramelized onion sauce. The pork is simmered until fork tender and soaks up all the deep flavor from the caramelized onion sauce. Top with cheese until melted to create a restaurant quality meal at home. If you enjoy French onion soup these pork chops are a must try! This is not your average pork chop recipe. No need to worry about tough or dry pork chops, these are incredibly tender and moist in a luxurious caramelized onion sauce... the melty cheese on top is an added bonus!

Instructions
- In a large oven safe pan, melt the butter on medium heat. Add the onions and garlic stirring regularly, cook 15-20 minutes until the onions are caramelized. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Season the pork chops on both sides with garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Add a small amount of oil to the pan. On high heat sear the pork chops for 2-3 minutes per side or until browned but not cooked through. They pork will finish cooking in the sauce while braising. Remove the pork from the pan and place on a plate.
- Reduce the heat on the pan to medium. Return the onions to the pan. Add the flour and stir continuously so the flour does not burn. Add in the beef broth and mix until fully combined. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Bring sauce to a simmer. Stir in the rosemary (if using).
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Add the pork back to the pan in an even layer (i.e. little to no overlap of pork chops).
- Cover the pan with the lid or tin foil and place in the oven to braise for 20-30 minutes, or until the pork chops are fork tender.
- Add one slice of cheese on top of each pork chop. Spoon on some sauce and onions on top of the cheese. Broil on low heat for 2-3 minutes or until cheese melts.
- Serve the pork chops over mashed potatoes, rice, or side of choice. Enjoy!
