Ingredients
Mediterranean rub
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 2 tablespoons dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1½ teaspoons onion powder
- 1½ teaspoons dried dill
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- ¾ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon chili flakes
Instructions
- This excellent rub can be used to season beef, chicken, fish, and grilled vegetables.
Notes
- This blend includes oregano, thyme, mint, and basil and can be used to flavor your salads with a delightful Mediterranean flavor.
- This amount combination makes fills a 1.5 oz jar. You can easily double or triple the amounts to make a larger quantity.
- Cut up a couple of fresh juicy tomatoes, slice a cucumber, and thinly some onion. You can add avocado slices, cube some Greek feta cheese or gruyere, grab 5-6 olives, and add them to a bowl. Drizzle two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, a teaspoon of wine vinegar, and a tablespoon of Greek salad seasoning and mix well—season with sea salt to taste. Let the salad sit for half an hour before serving.
- The chicken rubs are great on all parts of the chicken – breasts, thighs, legs, or wings. You can even sprinkle it on a whole chicken to roast in the oven or in a smoker. It is also delicious as a seasoning on roasted vegetables and potatoes.
- Pour olive over the chicken and sprinkle the rub on top, about one tablespoon or as much as you like. Rub the seasoning all over and inside the chicken.
- The pork and beef seasoning blend combines sage, thyme, sweet red pepper, onion, and orange. This blend adds intensity to the flavor of pork or beef and pairs perfectly with sauces and marinades. It can also be used as a spice for ground meat dishes, vegetarian dishes, and risotto.
- Store your Greek seasoning blends in an airtight container with the rest of your herbs and spices in your pantry. Put a label with the name and date; the blends should last two years. To enjoy this last benefit, always use fresh and good quality spices!
