Hershey's Chocolate Cake

Hershey's Chocolate Cake is a classic moist chocolate cake made with cocoa, sugar, eggs, and boiled water to create a thin batter that yields tender crumb layers. It can be baked in various pan sizes and shapes, making it a versatile dessert for different occasions.

Description

This cake combines key ingredients such as sugar, all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in the dry mix. Eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract are added before beating the mixture. Boiling water is stirred in last, thinning the batter for a lighter texture. Batter is poured into prepared pans and baked until a toothpick comes out clean.

The resulting cake is rich in chocolate flavor with a moist, tender crumb benefiting from the hot water which intensifies the cocoa. The recipe allows for baking in two 9-inch rounds, a 13x9-inch pan, three layers of 8-inch rounds, a 12-cup bundt pan, or even cupcakes, adjusting baking times accordingly.

Cooling times are given for proper handling and frosting application. The cake pairs well with homemade chocolate frosting or any preferred frosting choice. Variations in pan size and shape offer flexibility for different serving needs.
