Ingredients
- 4 large apples peeled, cored and diced, I used McIntosh
- ½ cup apple juice
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon ground, optional
Instructions
- Peel and core apples. Chop apples into one-inch pieces.
- Combine apples, apple juice and sugar into a medium saucepan. Turn the heat to high and bring the liquid to a boil.
- Cover the pan and reduce to medium-low heat. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are soft.
- Allow the mixture to cool. Transfer the apple mixture to a blender or food processor. Blend until the mixture until smooth. Add cinnamon if desired, then enjoy!
Notes
- You can use an immersion blender to blend applesauce right in the pan if you have one.
- For a chunkier applesauce, use a potato masher to mash the applesauce.
- Store applesauce in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week. You can freeze applesauce in an airtight container, like a freezer zip-top bag, for up to 6 months.
- This recipe makes about 1 1/2 cups of applesauce, but it can easily be doubled or tripled.
