Homemade Dinner Rolls + Tutorial

Homemade Dinner Rolls Recipe - These quick homemade dinner rolls are easy to make, soft, fluffy and delicious. This is the best rolls you will ever try!

Ingredients

Servings

For Rolls

  • 1 1/4 cups cup warm milk*
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened

For topping

  • 2 Tablespoons of butter melted
  • kosher salt or any other coarse salt

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a standing mixer** place the yeast, warm milk, eggs, salt, sugar, butter and 1 cup of the flour. Mix manually with a whisk until combined
  2. Place the dough hook on the mixer and add the rest of the flour. Mix on medium - low speed for 6-7 minutes to knead the dough
  3. Dough should be elastic and not sticky
  4. Grease a bowl with non-stick spray or oil. Place the dough in the bowl
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic paper and then with a clean kitchen towel
  6. Heat a cup of water in the microwave until it starts boiling
  7. Open the microwave door, move the cup of water to the back and place the bowl with the dough in the middle
  8. Close the microwave door and let the dough proof for 20 minutes (dough should double its size). DO NOT TURN ON THE MICROWAVE
  9. Remove dough from microwave and cut into 20 equal parts. Roll them into balls
  10. Grease a large rectangular baking pan
  11. Place the dough balls in the pan. Dough balls shouldn't be touching each other. If they are, get a bigger pan or use a second pan. Cover pan with plastic paper and a tea towel
  12. Heat a cup of water in the microwave until it starts boiling
  13. Open the microwave door, move the cup of water to the back and place the covered baking pan. If pan does not fit, simply let it proof inside an oven (as long as it's turned off). Let dough proof for 15-20 minutes
  14. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
  15. Remove baking pan from microwave and brush each roll with the melted butter. Sprinkle the salt on each one
  16. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown on top
  17. Enjoy!

Notes

  • *Milk needs to be at a lukewarm temperature (around 100 Degrees F). If milk is too hot the yeast will die, if milk is cold or at room temp, the yeast will not activate.**You can also make these by hand but the kneading times will be longer***You can proof the dough in the refrigerator overnight and bake the next day
