Homemade White Gravy

Southern white gravy is great with biscuits, pork chops, and chicken fried steak.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cup whole milk or heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Melt the butter in an iron skillet over medium heat.
- When the butter has melted completely, add the flour.
- Cook the flour and butter for approximately 1 minute, or until it becomes fragrant like pie dough.
- Add milk or heavy cream, and whisk until the gravy thickens.
- Season with salt and black pepper.
