Hot Dogs with Krautslaw

Tasty German Hot Dogs with a tangy krautslaw (a fusion of sauerkraut and coleslaw) for a healthy twist!

Ingredients

Servings
  • 4 Warburtons sub rolls
  • 4 German frankfurters
  • oil for frying, drizzle

For Krautslaw

  • 1 Cup sauerkraut drained
  • ½ carrot grated, medium
  • ½ apple grated, dessert variety
  • mayonnaise enough to coat

Toppings

  • gherkins sliced, pickled
  • mustard German style
  • fried onions crispy
  • ketchup

Instructions

  1. Mix the drained sauerkraut with the grated carrot, apple and enough mayonnaise to coat. Set aside in the fridge.
  2. Fry the frankfurters in the oil in a griddle pan according to their instructions.
  3. Side slice the sub rolls and fill with the krautslaw, sliced gherkin and frankfurters.
  4. Finish off with a squirt of German mustard plus ketchup and crispy onions if you wish.
